Born in 1962, this child of top rated Pratt Institute of New York traveled as fast as breathtaking dynamic lines of his pictorial composition: his work's delight visitors in 11 Museums and public buildings on three continents including Museo della Grafica, in Naro (province of Agrigento, Sicily) in the 15th century Palazzo Malfitano where his work, along with those artists from other countries, including Malta, joined those Old Masters like Rembrandt and Goya.

He has exhibited all over the world: the US, Latin America, the Middle East and Europe.

Korber's European award speak for themselves: Grand Prix des Arts at the 2001 Malta International Biennale, first prize for graphics at the 2002 International Grolla d'Oro di Treviso in Italy (where the first prize for sculpture went to a Maltese artist Paul Haber), and the first prize for painting at the 2002 Dantes Inferno Competition held at Atelier Z of the Centre Culturel Christiane Peugeot in Paris.

Korber will also lecture and exhibit his works at this years Tempra Academy in June on the Greek Island of Aghia Trias, in July at Villa Schabbach in Hundheim - Morbach, Germany, and in September at La Colombara Sports and Culture Centre in Rovigo, Italy.

Next year, the 500 page ‘cataloque raisonne' of Michael Korber's works will be presented at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, and the Foreign Press Association in London.

His return to Malta, after a very successful exhibition in Hato Rey in Puerto Rico and Palm Beach in Florida, took Villa Tempra by storm with the latest explosive pictorial creations that I have often described as examples of “pyrotechnic iconographism”. And of course, his pencil drawings that monumentalise the clearly defined anatomatic elements, appear to escape their support to “assault, baffle and finally simply enchant the viewer.

Korber “attacks” the canvas the paper or the clay as artistic creation for him is needed as strong as breathing. And, the strength of his creativity becomes almost contagious.

From almost dawn, Korber “attacks” the canvas the paper or the clay as artistic creation for him is needed as strong as breathing. And, the strength of his creativity becomes almost contagious.

In fact his works have only inspired, for example, a musical jazz composition from Dr. Ross de Iulio and a poem by Enrico Pagani but also, just the other day, a young visitor to Villa Tempra - eight-year- boy Raan Falzon of Qormi demanded drawing paper and crayons from Michael to produce the most humorous and densely creative composition. In fact I immediately selected it as a entry for the under 18 selection of the 2005 Malta Art Biennale.
